View Individual Asteroid Screen
- This screen, accessible from the Main Menu, provides additional information and controls specific to one asteroid from the total
asteroid database. On the left is orbital information for both the reference orbit as well as the refined orbit at some other epoch
than the reference epoch. For the Refined orbit the integration step size in days is noted. Orbital information is displayed in both
geometric and rectangular position/velocity formats.
- On the right, upper is the selection box used to select the desired asteroid by number or name and the diameter and magnitude
parameters of the selected body. The diameter can be set by the user to allow for database updates as more accurate diameters
are noted in the literature.
- On the right, lower are four button controls that access additional functions and screens.
They are as follows:
- Ephemeris -determine the position of the asteroid at any specified time and optionally step it along its orbit.
- Set User Object - select a star from the User Object Databases to set as an occultation target. When a target is selected, the
Ephemeris mode above is restricted to times near the date/time of occultation.
- Refine Orbit - Allows for detailed control of the perturbation process of Asteroid PRO.
- Export Orbit - Allows the orbital element information of both reference and refined orbits to be exported to other popular planetarium
type programs.
- Version 2.0 adds an Import operation for manually entering revised reference orbital elements and/or reading MPEC formatted orbital
element files from the Minor Planet Center, MPC/SAO/Harvard.
